In this eclectic performance combining elements of drag and burlesque with video and spoken-word-poetry, as well as playing with references to old folk tales and contemporary pop culture, the transdisciplinary artist and performer Valerie Reding takes the public on a dreamy, absurd, intimate, sometimes dystopian and other times freeing journey, asking: what is love, actually?
lovefool is a humorous, sensitive and critical reflection on how our patriarchal, heteronormative, capitalist, individualistic and consumerist society impacts our interpersonal relationships. What ideals, values and beliefs are sold to us through pop culture? How can we free ourselves from societal norms, power structures and gender stereotypes and learn to love each other with generosity and care?
